Decon X Iron Remover is a pH-neutral iron deposit remover and decontamination spray designed for use on both painted surfaces and wheels.

Surface Preparation:

• Ensure surfaces are cool to the touch; do not apply on hot panels or in direct sunlight.
  
• Pre-rinse the wheels and painted surfaces with clean water to remove loose dirt/grime.

• Allow proper ventilation, product has heavy odor
  

On Wheels / Calipers / Metal Components:

1. Spray Decon X Iron Remover liberally onto the wheel faces, barrels, calipers and any metal components from the braking system.
   
2. Allow a dwell time while the formula changes color to indicate iron dissolution.
   
3. For heavily soiled or baked-on brake dust, agitate with a soft detailing brush or wheel brush.
   
4. Rinse thoroughly and dry the wheels with a clean microfiber towel.
   

On Painted Surfaces (Decontamination):

1. Wash the vehicle normally and rinse thoroughly; ensure surface is cool and shaded.
   
2. Shake well and spray onto panels about 2 ft × 2 ft at a time, until surface is fully wet.
   
3. Allow dwell time while watching for the color‐change reaction (indicating iron breaking down).
   
4. If contamination is heavy, lightly agitate with a clay mitt or microfiber mesh towel.
   
5. Rinse the area thoroughly.
   
6. Continue panel by panel around the vehicle. After decontamination, wipe dry and then apply your next protection step (wax, sealant, coating).
   

Important Notes:

• Do not allow the product to dry on the surface; always rinse before it dries out.
  
• Always test in an inconspicuous spot if you’re uncertain about a finish.

• Product has very strong odor, allow proper ventilation.

Q: Is Decon X safe to use on coated wheels or vehicles with ceramic coatings?

A: Yes. Because the formula is pH-neutral and non-acidic, it’s safe for use on clear-coat paint, powder-coated or lacquered wheels, chrome, and surfaces with ceramic coatings — when used as directed.

Q: Will the color change work on both paint and wheels?

A: Yes. The visible color change (for example from clear or light to purple/violet) indicates the iron-removing chemistry at work. This visual feedback helps confirm the product is dissolving ferrous contaminants.

Q: How often should I use this product?

A: It depends on driving conditions. For high-iron environments (e.g., heavy brake dust, industrial/rail fall-out zones), you may choose to use Decon X every 2-3 months as part of your decontamination routine. For lighter use, twice or three times a year plus once per season may suffice. On wheels you might use it more frequently, such as weekly, when cleaning after spirited driving or heavy dust buildup.

Q: Can I spray on a hot surface or direct sunlight?

A: It’s best to avoid applying on hot surfaces or in direct sunlight because the dwell time may be compromised and the product may dry too quickly. Pre-rinse surfaces to cool them down, apply in a shaded area, and always keep surfaces wet until rinse.

Q: Do I need to base-clay or clay-bar the paint afterwards?

A: In many cases, Decon X will loosen embedded iron particles reducing the need for aggressive clay barring. However, if the surface is severely contaminated (you still feel gritty texture after rinse), you may choose to follow with a clay bar/mitt for optimum smoothness. Use Decon X first, then assess.

Q: Will this affect waxes, sealants or coatings already on the surface?

A: Because Decon X is pH-neutral and formulated for decontamination, it is less likely to strip protective layers compared to highly acidic iron removers. Nevertheless, for maximized protection, you may choose to re-apply a wax, sealant or coating after using it — especially on paint surfaces where you’ve removed embedded contaminants and plan to lock in protection.
